if i ever had any part of my body that i didn't like, i used to say my hands. they are wrinkly and granny like. yangkyu has prettier hands than me. but i like my hands now.
these hands wash a sink full of dishes 3-4 times a day. they let piri know when he's been a good boy, when he's loved, cares him back to health and gives him a good clean every so often.
they are patient and curious and have made crafts that decorate the home we live in. they clean, tidy and can make order out of chaos. they are desperately dry and cracked and are in need of lotion every second, every minute, every hour of the day, but when they are in the hands of the man i love, they feel happy and loved.
// thank you so much for playing along to the two truths and a lie ice breaker. you all are so so good. #2 {pie eating} was definitely my lie! i have slept overnight inside of the franklin institute and had the unfortunate translation incident. i had such a fun time trying to guess your lies and had several laugh out loud moments. hop on over and let me know how i did! i'm so curious. but seriously, they all seemed like truths. y'all definitely had me stumped!
i love this post -- how you like your hands now because they do so much :).
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deletethe way you began this post is how i actually feel about my hands a lot of times.
ReplyDeletebut i liked how you turned it around, and you're embracing how much your hands do.
what a lovely post :)
thank you so much!
DeleteI think your hands look fine, but I hear you I have a similar problem. You should wear rubber gloves when washing dishes or cleaning. Though I wish my hands were thing I disliked most. I would say it would be my smile and my teeth. HATE! Haha.

rubber gloves is a great idea although i always tend to break more dishes because they get so slippery! i guess we tend to me more harsh on ourselves and our own body parts!
DeleteHahaha....#2....I knew it! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd you know, I don't like my hands too. They're granny-looking for sure, but yours are not at all!
lol! aww thanks emmy! i'm sure your hands are fine too! :)
DeleteI love this post. I don't like my hand either, but I love the perspective you give.
ReplyDeletethank you!
Deletethe beautiful way you write about your hands is the way I feel about how people age - each a mark of experience and wisdom.
ReplyDeletei missed that truths and lies post, hopping over now! x
yes so true!
DeleteYaaay *jumps* I got it right :3
ReplyDeleteAnd you have lovely grateful hands Jane!
Xx
thanks mei!
DeleteHow wonderful to find the beauty in your hands!!! You said it all in this post....this would be a good activity for young girls so they can grow up appreciating their bodies rather than disliking them. Happy day to you friend!!! Nicole xo
ReplyDeleteoh it would definitely be a good activity for young girls! what a great idea!
Deleteaw. I really adore this post. I have never paid much attention to my hands. It's ironic you bring hands up as a topic because as a kid, I had a weird obsession that my hands were not pretty enough either. For some reason, I focused on my nails. I felt like other girls' hands were prettier and more feminine. Even as a kid! It's such an odd thought to have when I should have focused on just playing. But, now, I don't mind them at all. Perhaps I have grown more into who I am instead of who I am not. =)

now that you mention it, i always had bigger nails than other girls. other little girls had little soft dainty hands while mine weren't. i don't think it bothered me that much but it was definitely something i noticed and at one point felt a little alienated. so weird!
DeleteI used to hate my height, I don't think I'm close to 155cm (I'm not so sure with feet and inches: 5ft 1in?), not that I'm totally cool with it, but I think I'm ok with it now. Love this post Jane! Learning to accept the way you are is hard but in the end a great rewarding thing :)
ReplyDelete++ So it was pie! I knew it!
oh i'm 5'2! we're similar! :)
Deletesuch a sweet sweet post!!!!! your hands are wonderful :)
ReplyDeletethank you!
