a weekend of making.

i was almost thinking that i had one of the most unproductive weekends but come to think of it, i kind of went on a diy frenzy starting with so many impulse buys at michaels craft store on saturday. i actually had only intended to buy a couple of ends to work on a simple leather wrap bracelet but ended up buying a bunch of beads, elastics, leather cords, embroidery floss and fake flowers and what not. it was all kind of random and exciting.

i realized that i have no skill what so ever in making pretty bracelets but i did make some good ole summer camp style friendship bracelets and also a few beaded ones as well. they now sit happily on my wrist probably for the rest of the summer. i love how colorful they are. bright reds, oranges, yellows, blues and greens.

on sunday morning i ended up waking up super early and while i was waiting for everyone else to wake up, i ended up making a tiny flower crown for piri. i think he hated it but he sure did look cute in it.

hope your weekend was wonderful. it's an exciting week for us this week. friends from new york are visiting us for fourth of july weekend. yangkyu and i bought a new board game too over the weekend so we can subject them to playing with us while they are here. we picked up cranium. it should be loads fun. i think i'll also bake a batch of cookies in time for their arrival as well. macadamia with chocolate chip. yum.

have a good week ahead everyone!

  1. Hello Jane,

Well, you do seem to have gone overboard with beads and bits and bobs to make your charming bracelets. What fun it all looks to have been.

Not at all sure that Piri's enjoyed wearing his flower tiara but, as you say, he does look very sweet with it on his head!

How exciting to have your friends arriving. It is always good to have visitors and the everyday routine becomes totally different. What a welcome with the home baked biscuits. They may never want to leave!

  6. Those bracelets are too cute, Jane. Very summer-y. I tried to make one of those parachute bracelets with my daughter over the weekend coz we got the kit from Michael's and that was a big fail! Sigh....
PS I got those shorts from H&M last year:) They're the Boyfriend ones.

  8. Pictures of Piri with the flower crown are so adorable. It looks like he loves them. I know it is difficult to resist buying jewelry supplies. It is easy to get carried away, isn't it? I still end up having a bunch of them. Your bracelets are fun and colorful.

  16. How cute the color combo in your friendship bracelets! It is so fun to see the first picture with lots and lots of beads :) We have here a frenzy among kids with rubber wristbands, and lots of people have also jumped in the wagon. My friend Anna is providing me with every color possible bracelets for all my outfits :) I like to call them also friendship bracelets although they don't look like the classic ones.

  17. I love your weekend, in fact, I love understated moments like this where things can slow down and you just create. That's so perfect imo. I love your bracelets, they remind me of these colorful anklets my sister makes for us to wear. And Piri is super adorbs as usual. You should totally do a tutorial for that tiny floral crown ;)
