floral friday: foliage.

there is a beautiful japanese garden inside the hillwood estate in washington d.c. it's a pleasant walk where you'll see bonzai trees, koi pond and stylized landscape. there are also these magnificent japanese maple trees. they make such a quiet yet bold statement within the garden. and they are so gloriously red.

  2. Momiji!! They look flamelike in autumn and they rage on hillsides throughout Japan. I love them xx

    Japanese trees have a special place in my heart. Hinoki and Sugi smell incredible. I would love you to visit a Japanese forest......oh the smell!!! Jane....you three would love it xx

  5. Wow that is some truly beautiful foliage indeed. I haven't seen foliage that red anywhere around here in KY. For some reason it makes me look forward to autumn though :)

  7. Such pretty trees. We have Japanese gardens here too, at Balboa Park. I love Koi ponds and bonsai trees. Well, I love a lot of things, but that's beside the point. =) -Jess L

  24. Awwwwww red maple trees, this makes my day, it reminds me so much of Japan in autumn, which was unbelievably beautiful! you do have very beautiful spots in Washington, I still can remember the cherry blossoms promenade that you shared with us in spring! :)
