giant scoop of ice cream + boat outing in old town alexandria.

isn't that the most chocolate-y scrumptious bowl of ice cream you ever did see?

it's called hazed and confused by ben & jerry's. yangkyu and i shared a giant scoop before a scheduled boat outing in old town alexandria, virginia.

we went on a big ole' pretty boat called the cherry blossom operated by the potomac river company and the whole outing was part of yangkyu's company summer launch gathering. so this introvert gal spent three hours on a boat trying to get over the whole thing called mingling {because you see we were on a boat and there was no way of getting out of it unless i locked myself in the bathroom for the entire duration of the trip} and while this sort of thing isn't my cup of tea, it turned out just fine. yangkyu is lucky to call these folks his colleagues.

afterwards we took a stroll around old town alexandria. we came here over two years ago and fell in love but i think we forgot how pretty this place was because we fell in love with it all over again. if you're ever in the dc metropolitan area, swing by old town alexandria for sure. it has quaint little shops and restaurants you'll definitely enjoy.

  7. It really has that old town, historic touch! I am the worst at mingling with new people, so I know exactly how you feel. Did you give yourself a pat on the back after the boat trip? :)

BTW I don't know if you've already come across the Ruffled post about smoothies, but I thought about you when I read it this morning & wanted to share: http://ruffledblog.com/detox-smoothie-recipes-with-kaeng-raeng/

  18. That icecream looks delish! I'm glad you had a... tolerable time on the little boat excursion. I know what you mean, though. Hanging out with DK's coworkers for 3 hours wouldn't be my idea of a fun time, either. But you gotta do what you gotta do?! :)

Alexandria looks like a beautiful place.

  20. The anxiety of mingling with the husband's colleagues sends me back to thoughts of an outing in the desert many years ago. It was funny how you described being stranded on the boat and no where to go :) That chocolate ice creams looks oh so yummy!

  28. What a lovely outing!! I have to admit though that my inner introvert also said to myself while reading: a work gathering in a boat? no escape! hahahahaha, but It's those things that I kind of actually enjoy while I am there although I have been dreading the moment for days ;) The riverboat is so beautiful and Alexandria looks very nice to walk around, brick buildings love!

  30. Aww, that was so cute that you came out to support your hubby even though crowds and mingling aren't really your thing. I'm glad it turned out to be a fun time. And what an awesome treat to be able to walk around the place you fell in love with a couple of years ago. And can I have a scoop or two of that Hazed & Confused? Please and thank you :)
