i like this life with you.

// he waits for yangkyu like this during the day. i think it's the cutest thing so i snuck up behind him to take a picture. //
// but he caught me spying on him. //
// i tried oatmeal and honey facial. it was a bit too messy for my taste. i have reverted back to making my sugar, honey and lemon facial scrub. i have been using it for about three months and it's lightened up some of my acne scars and kept acne at bay. //
// a few of black fridays ago, we purchased the canon pixma mg 3120. it was actually so that i could start making my own cards using my photographs and selling them on etsy. that never happened but this wall did. we had it in our rental and i wanted to recreate it. i updated it to make it bigger with new pictures mixed in. i would love to upgrade our pixma now that it's been a few years. just wishful thinking over here.//
// have you ever watched pom poko? it's actually one of my favorite films from studio ghibli. they're like raccoon activists coming together to fight against suburban developments that are taking over their natural habitat. it's fascinating because it shows how they organize but struggle with unity and internal conflict. i think it's so similar to people-led resistance movements, no? oh, i think i may have to watch this again over the weekend. //
// i really need to figure out how to make our dresser stand on its own without tipping over. or at least replacing those poor washington d.c. guide books with something more suitable. //
// yangkyu working late into the night. this guy finally got his own room for his massive "l" shaped desk. can you believe we had that thing inside our shoebox apartment back when we were living in queens, ny? it took up more than half the space. we stashed it away for over two years but now he finally gets to use it again. he also set up three computer monitors. three. //
// i wasn't sure if i was going to find room for our painter's ladder. but i did. i'm still arranging and rearranging the space until it feels just about right. i'm also going to start thinking about gallery walls. i'm slowly picking out old family photos and will go on a search for old frames to put them in. this will be a fun project. //

ps -- on tuesday, july 29th, cherring and tiara were featured for july's "a girl and her dog" series. i'm so saddened to say that i found out yesterday through instagram that tiara crossed the rainbow bridge on july 27th. my thoughts and love go out to cherring. rest in peace sweet sweet tiara. i hope you can eat as much boiled egg yolks as your heart pleases in the peaceful place you are at now.

  2. Love the colorful photos on your wall. Looks like an art gallery indeed. Your home looks nice and cozy. It is fun when you have more space and freedom to create abd design. I dont miss living in an apartment one bit except easier cleaning in a smaller space. Literally cant keep up in my home. Piri seems to enjoy his new house too.

  5. How sad for Cherring and Tiara! I am so glad they gave each other such a good life. Piri waiting for Yangku reminds me of my Chase... I usually enter our home from the parking garage, but every now and then, I walk through the front of our condo building. When I do, I look over to the window of my condo and I see his little face peeking through the curtains. It makes me soooo happy, warms my heart so much. Our pups truly are amazing little beings in our lives.

    1. there is comfort in knowing that they each other a full and loving life. and it's so adorable to see your pups waiting for you. in our old old apartment piri used to wait for us "by his window" which overlooked the apartment parking lot. it was so cute.

    1. yes! we have a chalkboard wall! we took a couple of days giving it two coats of paint - i think i messed up the "seasoning" of the chalkboard part which is why it looks so white but no matter, i still love it :)

  18. whoa things are really coming along fast in your new place, that's impressive. as is 3 monitors! thank you for your comment on yesterday's post, and if you did make it to the end then thank again too -- it's an interesting subject and one which obviously does stike us a a "first world problem", but i wasn't looking at it as a problem, more of a mindset like you said. hard to tare yourself away really.

  23. Loved that you created a photo wall similar to the one in your rental because it looks awesome! and was something I instantly saw and thought about you :) the sweet family pics with the two yellow chairs is lovely. Oh! I need a decent printer for photo prints, do you like the quality of the canon prisma? I have been a few years trying to replace our broken HP but I'm not sure which would work better for us and I always dread the expensive cartridges.
