There is no place like home.

Welcome home Piri!

We picked up the little guy from Affectionate Pet Care first thing this morning and we're so glad to be all together again. Right now he is sleeping on his bed like a king. I think I kind of know the feeling -- at Punta Cana we stayed in a room with a beautiful king sized bed with fluffy pillows and soft blankets but when I was back in my own bed last night I slept like baby. It felt so good waking up to familiar pillows, fabrics and environment.

Our travel yesterday was so chaotic. We were due back in Virginia around 9 pm last night but we faced delays in Punta Cana which made us miss our connection flight in Charlotte. We touched down in North Carolina at around 8:30 pm, cleared customs, grabbed our checked bag and ran like there was no tomorrow to Concourse E, Gate 36. Of course it was 36. The last gate in Concourse E. We literally had 20 minutes to make it there only to find out that the flight we were supposed to catch was actually at Gate 24. More running and looking like complete maniacs ensued.

It ended up turning out that there wasn't room for us to board but miraculously some people ended up bailing because they were tired of the delays that specific flight was facing {there were so delays and cancellations at Charlotte}. This opened up seats for us, which made us cheer literally out loud because back in Punta Cana we were told we would have to stay the night at Charlotte and get on a 2:45 pm next day flight instead. I don't think I ever was so happy for a flight being delayed, but at that moment the combination of delays and people not wanting to deal with it ended up being the best thing that happened to us.

We had planned on taking a few days to settle in before our next DogVacay guest who was slated to come next week but that guest may actually come in today due to unexpected circumstances. She is an 8-week old Westie puppy! We'll certainly have our hands and hearts full with her. I'm sure of it.

Punta Cana was wonderful and I thought I would have a hard time coming back to this cold and snow but I'm looking forward to getting back to our groove.

It's good to be home.

  4. Aww yay Piri! It sounded like you had quite an adventure flying back home. The one thing I'm not a fan of when it comes to traveling is getting to and from the destination. It's always such a hassle (especially going through customs)! I seriously can't wait to see photos! Welcome home!
