  1. Oh Jane....what a lovely story to share. My husband has always been a dog lover, and what you wrote reminded me a lot of his relationships with the dogs he had. Unfortunately, when his last one died (a husky), we decided to hold off on dogs for awhile because I will admit....it's hard work.
Your post just reminded me why my hubby loves dogs so much:) XOXO

  8. I loved your post, Jane!!! Seriously, I have the same feeling towards animals, and I know how scary it is to lose one, which is why I've been hesitant to get another pet (also I don't have the time for one) BUT, I know my heart is big enough to have another companion one day, I just don't know if I can take losing him/her. I'm also so glad that you were able to help him with his separation anxiety!

  9. Your story made me smile! I totally understand the whole separation anxiety dilemma. When we first brought Louie home from the shelter, she had a tremendous amount of separation anxiety (understandably so) whenever we left the home, just to go to the garage or something. So we also tried the 5 minute/10 minute thing and she understood that we would come back for her.

  14. Hi Jane, thank you for sharing a beautiful post at Nelah's blog. That's how I came about your blog. This post is beautiful yet bitter-sweet for me as my parent's boxer passed last October. She was 13 when she departed from our family and my sister and I grew up with her. So, this post just touched my heart. I really like your blog and you write well. I'm following you now from Bloglovin. Will be dropping by again to read your new post =)

  16. I'm definitely with you pets are for life :) I'm sure your bond now is a mere reflection of what you've shared together and all you have given Piri and what he has given back :) Oh an interesting note, I now know how to pronounce Piri, woohoo!

  17. Just read your story with Piri. You two are like two peas in a pod. I can't believe he was a little trouble maker when you first got him. He seems like a model pup now. Good for you for not giving up on him.
